Texas Flame Parrot Tulip

Reminiscent of flocks of tropical birds in flight, a planting of these gorgeous feathered tulips is quite a sight. An eye-catching color combination of bright yellow striped in bold red adds to the appeal… especially when planted in groups. They make a sensational focal point in the late-spring garden. Fantastic in cut-flower arrangements, too. Their straight, sturdy stems grow to 16-24" tall in full sun. Zones 3-7. Tulipa 'Texas Flame'

A subspecies that emerged from the 'Tulipomania' phenomenon that held Holland in thrall in the 17th century, many varieties of Parrot tulip were cultivated for showcasing in gardens both grand and small. Like their traditional counterparts, many Parrots feature the broken color patterns that were so highly prized during that period. What separates them from standard tulips is their unusual form and more vibrant colorations. Their popularity has grown over the centuries, making these unique tulips greatly sought after, even in today's market.

Among the largest and most spectacular spring flowering bulbs, Parrot tulips produce large blooms of frilled and ruffled petals in an array of brilliant colors not often found in traditional tulips. They appear on tall, straight stems that keep flowers upright and highly visible in the garden. Plant these Dutch flower bulbs in groups for a dazzling presentation of bright color and unique beauty. Decorators love parrot tulip bulbs, too! They make an eye-catching addition to bouquets and indoor arrangements.
