Poker Face Kniphofia

Description
The only rule we know for growing Red Hot Poker is to try lots of them as colors and bloom times vary, but Poker Face should be number one on your list. In trials, it has performed remarkably, blooming for weeks in midsummer, and finishing cleanly enough to enjoy sporadic rebloom as well. With its day-glow firecracker look in deep orange to red shades, it'll make your July flower border sizzle. Kniphofia has many aliases; Torch Lily, Tritoma, as well as the common Red Hot Poker, but whatever name you use it elicits comments when it lights up the garden. With good drainage in a sunny location, it is easy to care for, has few pests and diseases that bother it, and is drought tolerant once established. Bees and butterflies flock to the fiery "pokers" and you may be tempted to snitch a few for cut flowers as well, making an arresting arrangement. Kniphofia 'Poker Face'
