Pink Muhly Grass

Forms neat clumps of narrow foliage in spring and summer, then in late summer it becomes one of the most stunning plants around! Airy plumes of cotton-candy pink float above the foliage, and they hold their color until fall is over. Extremely easy, thriving despite heat, humidity, drought, even poor soil! Long-lived, too, and birds feast on their seed! Plant in full sun. Grows 3' tall and 2 1/2' wide. Ships in a 3" pot. Zones 6-10. Muhlenbergia capillaries. Deer tend to avoid.

Pleasant but you need alot of patience. I planted two of these. The first year they looked sad and I thought both would die. The following spring and summer, one quickly had a great growth spurt. It was atleast 26 inches tall but the plumes were not as dramatic as the photo, but still pleasant and added soft color and movement to the garden. This past winter, all the grass looks like it went dead, no green. I hope that's normal for the plant to die back because it would be sad if it grew so well just to die. That second one is still small and sad but does have some green grass stalks. I'm hopping this year it will take off. They are planted only 4 feet away in same soil with equal soil and equal sunlight. I can only think water amount is different as one was closer to gutter rain off drain then the other and that contributed to the growth spurt.
