Moonglow Sweetbay Magnolia

The native evergreen Sweetbay magnolia gives Southern gardeners some leafy color throughout the entire year. This improved selection expands the zones that can use Sweetbay all the way to zone 5 with some winter protection. It produces blooms later than average magnolias, and sometimes even delivers a second show. The flowers boast creamy color, sophisticated form and a strong, lemony scent—one Moonglow in bloom will perfume your whole yard. They are then followed by conelike fruits with bright red seeds, which acts as an important source of nutrition for the backyard birds in fall. Moonglow likes wet feet, so it thrives slower–draining places. Magnolia virginiana 'Jim Wilson' PP12065
