Midnight Marvel Hardy Hibiscus

Description
Huge, pure red blooms absolutely glow against the richest purple foliage in the genus. Since buds occur not just as at the tips, but all down the stems, blooms appear for a long period of time starting in midsummer. Neat and compact, this front of the border perennial doesn't need to be relegated to the back like other hibiscus might. Native to swampy areas, Midnight Marvel loves moist, rich soils, but adapts well to dryer, poor conditions. Leaves attain their most gorgeous wine-purple color when planted in full sun—an absolute show-stopper in the garden! Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel' PP24079

The type of product you order or the weather in our area or yours may affect the anticipated shipping schedule.

Based on the contents of your order we always strive to ship your order complete, and as early as possible. Large orders may be shipped in more than one package.

Bare-root perennials, trees and shrubs are kept in the nursery row until full dormant. This promotes optimum transit conditions and success in your garden. In the Fall, these plants tend to arrive at the later end of the shipping window.

ordered two and they arrived a little earlier than expected. Planted them in a 5 gallon bucket and placed them in the sunroom. When the soil warmed a bit out they went. Doing very well, about 18 tall, very bushy and lots of flowers.

I added two of these to a corner of a large bed that only gets about 6 hours of direct sun each day. I was expecting that I may not see many blooms 1st year since I only planted in early June. But almost overnight it began blooming in late July. Almost every day there are new blooms opening. Only downside is that each bloom only lasts a short time, but with so many coming out its not a problem. I do have clay and am watering almost every day which seems to help but could be an issue for gardeners who can't maintain that schedule...but absolutely love this one!

So I ordered 2 Midnight Marvels in Feb, Received in April, and has been in the ground since. I take great care to keep the soil watered. Its now 100+ degrees daily in Mid July and still not a sprout. I know these are late sprouters, but Summer is half over. Extremely disappointed as this was to be the centerpiece of my garden and instead I have a blank spot in my landscaping.
